Digital financial services company OPay has denied reports claiming that its offices in Lagos and Abuja were sealed by the Nigeria Revenue Service over alleged tax violations.

In a statement issued by the company, OPay said its offices across Nigeria remain open and fully operational, dismissing the circulating reports as inaccurate and misleading.

The company stated that it remains compliant with all statutory tax obligations and regulatory requirements, noting that it maintains ongoing engagement with relevant government agencies to ensure full adherence to applicable laws.

According to the firm, the notice referenced in the reports arose from a recent industry-wide directive issued by the tax authority to payment service providers. The directive requested operators to clearly separate certain statutory charges within their applications to improve reconciliation and transparency.

OPay explained that the administrative clarification affects several companies within the digital payments industry and was not directed specifically at the firm.

The company also expressed concern over reports that singled it out in the matter, stating that such claims misrepresent the situation and could harm its reputation.

OPay urged the public to disregard information suggesting that its operations have been suspended or that its offices have been shut down, emphasizing that the company continues to provide financial services to its customers, merchants, and partners nationwide.

The fintech firm reiterated its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s digital economy through the delivery of secure, reliable, and inclusive financial services.
