The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) has unveiled a 20-room luxury hotel at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, marking a strategic expansion beyond its traditional ground-handling operations. The move signals NAHCO’s transformation into a fully integrated aviation services group.

The hotel, Sapphire Hotel, is located within the Terminal II departure area, offering international travelers, transit passengers, and business executives premium comfort and convenience. Its launch coincided with the company’s strong 2025 financial results, which reported a 40% profit increase to N18 billion.

NAHCO’s unaudited results for the year ending 31 December 2025 showed revenue growth of 21.8%, rising from N53.54 billion in 2024 to N65.21 billion. Gross profit climbed to N38.61 billion, operating profit increased by 25% to N24.84 billion, and profit before tax rose 30% to N24.26 billion. After-tax profit jumped nearly 40% to N17.99 billion, lifting earnings per share from N6.60 to N9.24.

Prince Saheed Lasisi, NAHCO’s Group Executive Director for Commercial and Business Development, described Sapphire Hotel as a key step in building a comprehensive travel ecosystem. Operated by NAHCO Travel and Hospitality Limited, the hotel is designed to deliver a seamless experience for premium passengers.

Ruky Ogbetuo, CEO of NAHCO Travel and Hospitality, highlighted the facility’s high-end rooms, business office, gym, laundry services, and on-site dining. The hotel complements the 127-seat Sapphire Lounge, which features a VVIP section and prayer facilities.

Industry experts praised the initiative as a significant private-sector investment in Nigerian airport infrastructure. Analysts also noted that the development could enhance NAHCO’s non-aeronautical revenue and stabilize earnings.
