Nigerian independent oil and gas company, Heirs Energies, is set to take a prominent role at the African Energy Week (AEW) 2025: Invest in African Energies, where it will spotlight its growth journey, production achievements, and ambitious expansion strategy across the continent.

The conference, scheduled for September 29 to October 3 in Cape Town, South Africa, will serve as one of the continent’s largest gatherings of energy stakeholders, bringing together global investors, policymakers, operators, and service providers. By confirming its participation as a Bronze Partner, Heirs Energies is positioning itself as a key voice in the ongoing conversation about Africa’s energy transformation and long-term development.

Since its landmark acquisition of OML 17 from Shell in 2021, Heirs Energies has recorded impressive progress in boosting Nigeria’s oil and gas output. The company successfully doubled production levels from 25,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 50,000 bpd in just a few years a significant achievement in a challenging operating environment.

Building on this momentum, Heirs Energies has now set its sights on an ambitious production target of 110,000 bpd within the next five years. To achieve this, the company is investing in aggressive drilling campaigns, reactivating idle wells, and upgrading existing infrastructure to maximize output and efficiency. These efforts are not only designed to expand the company’s operational capacity but also to support Nigeria’s wider goal of boosting domestic oil and gas production.

While Nigeria remains central to its operations, Heirs Energies is also preparing to extend its footprint across Africa. The company plans to leverage its operational expertise and innovative strategies to tap into new markets and emerging opportunities on the continent. Its expansion drive is guided by a dual focus: improving efficiency and ensuring responsible, sustainable operations that align with Africa’s broader energy transition agenda.

According to the organisers of AEW 2025, “The partnership comes as the company pursues ambitious growth plans, including doubling its oil output by 2030 and expanding its footprint across Africa.”

Heirs Energies has also distinguished itself through its commitment to social impact and community development. Earlier this year, the company introduced a merit-based scholarship scheme for young people in OML 17 host communities. The programme, administered through the OML Host Communities Development Trust, seeks to broaden access to education, equip youths with critical skills, and promote long-term socioeconomic growth in the region.

This initiative reflects the company’s belief that sustainable energy development must go hand in hand with human capital development and community empowerment. By investing in education and capacity-building, Heirs Energies is strengthening its relationship with host communities while also laying the groundwork for future generations to participate meaningfully in the energy sector.

Industry stakeholders have noted that Heirs Energies’ rapid growth and community-focused approach are reshaping the narrative around indigenous African energy companies. Commenting on the company’s role, Tomás Gerbasio, Vice President of Commercial and Strategic Engagement at the African Energy Chamber, said:

“Heirs Energies’ rapid growth and commitment to community development demonstrate how African energy companies can drive both economic progress and social impact. By investing in local talent and expanding across the continent, they are setting a benchmark for sustainable, responsible energy development.”

At AEW 2025, Heirs Energies is expected to engage with international investors, regulators, and industry leaders to showcase its long-term strategy, share insights into emerging opportunities in Nigeria and beyond, and reinforce its commitment to sustainable, community-driven energy growth. Its participation reflects a broader ambition not just to grow as a company, but to contribute to Africa’s energy independence, economic development, and global competitiveness.

As Africa’s energy landscape continues to evolve, Heirs Energies’ approach — combining operational excellence, community development, and regional expansion — positions it as a model for how indigenous companies can shape the continent’s energy future.
