Merciport Has Spearheaded Her Commitment to Cleaner Energy Solutions

Merciport Energy has committed to empowering one million women with cleaner cooking solutions by 2030. This commitment was recently reaffirmed by the company’s CEO, Rita James, during a social media campaign launched in celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day.

James stated, “The campaign underscores our dedication to sustainable energy solutions and women’s empowerment. Since 2021, Merciport has been at the forefront of promoting cleaner energy solutions, distributing hundreds of LPG cylinders to women nationwide.”

Rita highlighted the severe health risks that women in rural areas face due to traditional cooking methods. She emphasized that this is why Merciport Energy is championing cleaner cooking solutions in rural Nigeria and has strategically located its gas plants in underserved regions.

She added, “The response to the clean energy campaign has been overwhelming. Women who received LPG cylinders during the campaign can now care for their families in a healthier environment and are economically empowered to contribute more to their households.

“The excitement and emotions this initiative has generated have been overwhelming and have motivated us to do more. We are actively seeking partners to join us in our mission to empower one million women with cleaner cooking solutions by 2030,” James stated.

The recent edition of the Clean Energy campaign, which lasted two weeks, received entries from all over the country. Many rural and suburban women expressed their need for cleaner cooking solutions, underscoring the significant health risks associated with traditional cooking methods like firewood and charcoal, which must be addressed and eradicated.
