A supermarket has issued a recall for its Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack and Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack due to the potential presence of undeclared peanuts. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of consumers who may have peanut allergies.
Tesco has issued an urgent recall for two varieties of own-brand chocolate bars from its stores due to the potential presence of undeclared peanuts. The recalled products are the Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack and Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack, which may contain peanuts despite lacking any indication on their labels.
The company expressed concern over the possible health risk posed to individuals with peanut allergies. Sold in packs of six for £1.15, these products could trigger allergic reactions ranging from hives to anaphylactic shock, which can be life-threatening without immediate medical attention.
The Food Standards Agency advises consumers to return the products to Tesco for a full refund and refrain from consuming them. Tesco has initiated contact with allergy support organizations and issued recall notices to customers, detailing the mispack issue responsible for the lack of accurate labeling on the chocolate bars.
The recall applies to specific batches of the Nutty Nougat Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack with a best before date of 28 February 2025, and the Dreamy Caramel Chocolate Bars Multipack with best before dates of 31 January 2025 and 28 February 2025.
The Food Standards Agency reiterated the potential health risk for individuals allergic to peanuts and urged customers not to consume the recalled products, emphasizing the importance of returning them to Tesco for a refund. For more information contact Tesco Customer Services on 0800 505 555.”
