Head, Sustainability, Access bank, Omobolanle Victor Laniyan has urged organisations to embrace sustainability in growing their brands.
Laniyan who was speaking at the 8th edition of the African Brands Congress, on Friday September 15 on the theme: Sustainability, CSR and Green Goodness: An opportunity for Brands Growth, disclosed that organisation that embrace sustainability out way their peers in performance.
According to her, sustainability gives organisations that leverage and a competitive advantage. It is the right thing to do to grow ones brands. It should be inbreeded in the sole of every organisation.
She stressed, they are so many issues happening in Nigeria and around the world, and if we all team up together and embrace sustainability we will be able to solve this issues.
”I always tell people that the sustainable development goals are not 17, but 16. The 1-16 are what we should do. And 17 is how we can achieve goals 1-16. Goal 17 is about collaboration and partnership. A tree can not make a forest. Collaboration will enable us do so much together and address the challenges we are faced with, “
Adding she said, “My simple definition of sustainability is about providing innovative solutions in addressing challenges that we are faced with as humans. We have environment, social challenges. We achieve this by innovating together to make the world a better place. And as we do this, we understand that we are taking conscious business decisions together to raise issues that will help us meet our needs today without jeopardizing the opportunity for future generations to meet their needs.”
She disclosed that brands needs to tell themselves the truth and start the sustainability journey. According to her, Sustainability is a journey and there is no one that will sit and say he has gotten there.
“Brands has to celebrate every achievements and look on and move on to the next big thing you have to acheive. And as we continue to partner together in this journey, the world will be a better place and we will leave no one behind,” she concluded.
