The Africa Fintech Brand Innovation Awards recognised Access Bank, Diamond Xtra, Palmpay and other financial technology services for their notable contributions to the growth of the financial system in the country.
The organisers of the Africa Fintech Brands Innovation Award, said it is a platform that aims at celebrating Fintech innovation, leadership and technology.
“The award is a global initiative founded on the idea that Fintech can unleash unprecedented economic fire power in Africa,” Editor in Chief, African Brands, Desmond Esorougwe, explained.
The event was graced by several dignitaries in the financial technology industry includes the Managing Director of Palmpay, Mr Chika Reginald Nwosu, the Post Master General of the Federation represented by the Post Master of Lagos, Head, Business Banking, Mr. Dennis Ezaga, MD/CEO Dr. Dorothy Jeff-Nnamani and other critical stakeholders in the Financial Technology space in the country.
Certified AI Chatbot Developer, ( CAIBOTD), David Mba, a lead speaker at the event, said AI can enhance financial inclusion and make essential financial services accessible to underserved populations.
He explained that AI holds the promise to revolutionise financial inclusion by addressing the longstanding challenges that have hindered underserved populations.
“Financial inclusion contributes to a more stable financial system by reducing the reliance on informal and unregulated channels, thereby mitigating risks associated with illicit activities and economic instability,” he added.
Dwelling more on the use of AI to unlocking the potentials of digital finance in emerging world, he said, artificial intelligence, AI can incorporate alternative data sources like mobile phone usage, social media activity and transaction history to assess creditworthiness more accurately.

Others were, NIPOST Financial Services, First Central Credit Bureau, Chanelle Microfinance Bank Limited, fsdh Merchant Bank LTD, and Refuge Mortgage Bank Limited.
The award was presented to them at the 4th edition of the Africa Financial Technology Congress, AFTC 2023, held on Friday, August 25, at Sheraton hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
AFTC was created to continually share more insight on the progress of Africa’s Fintech Revolution and founded on the idea that Fintech can unleash unpresented economic growth in Africa.
