Marketing professional, George Edwin Thorpe has been conferred with a doctor of Business Administration Degree from Walden University USA. The conferment took place on October 30, 2022.
His resilience strive in marketing industry brought him to becoming a brand enthusiast and a Fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).
George Thorpe started his marketing career at Lever Brothers, now Unilever, where he was the Senior Brand Manager between February 1972- April 1982. He later moved to Pfizer Nigeria as the Marketing Manager between May 1982- September 1988.
He joined Sterling Health Nigeria as Marketing Director from October 1988- March 1991. He was later appointed as Vice President Marketing for Sterling Health, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Indian Sub-Continent (MEEASC) from April 1991- February 1994. Mr Thorpe returned to Nigeria to fill the position of the Managing Director at Sterling Health Nigeria from April 1994- May 1995.
He took early retirement following the global merger of Sterling Health and GSK, he later went on to teach Business Strategy at Lagos Business School from May 1995- April 1997.He is currently a joint coordinator at IMS, a leading network of marketing communications and promoting firms in West Africa, since February 1996.
Today, July 21, his family took a full page of The Punch to congratulate him of his giants strides he obtained, the conferment of his Doctor of Business Administration Degree, (DBA), saying, “we are proud of you for accomplishing this great feat!
